Prepare Chakalaka as side dish or as a main course

Chili con carne, a dish that's as vibrant and diverse as the cultures it comes from, is a true culinary delight. This hearty stew, brimming with tender meat, robust beans, and a rich, spicy tomato base, has won the hearts of food lovers worldwide. Whether you prefer it with a fiery kick or a milder flavor, chili con carne is a versatile dish that can be tailored to any palate. It's not just a meal; it's a flavorful journey that promises warmth and satisfaction in every spoonful.

For this quick recipe, just use my Chakalaka spice mix. Your chili will get some spiciness with it.

Ingredients

500 g minced beef or half and half
1 oder 2 cabanossi (optional)
50 g Chakalaka (equals 1/2 package)
400 g canned tomatoes, chunky
400 g kidney beans with juice
450 - 500 ml stock
  salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. In a Dutch oven or large skillet with lid, cook meat and the sliced cabanossi on medium heat until the meat is no longer pink for 5 - 7 minutes; crumble minced meat as you go.
  2. Add the Chakalaka mixture. Shake the contents of the package well beforehand! Stir thoroughly and let everything simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Add canned tomatoes and stock mix and let it cook with lid until hot (5 - 7 minutes). You can quickly make a veggie broth with my Bouillon.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 10 minutes. Don't forget to stir from time to time.
  5. Add the beans, mix well and let it simmer on lowest heat for 5 minutes until the beans are heated.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
