Recipe

Vegan veggie burger

By the first peep, this recipe looks quite complicated, but it’s not. The dry ingredients will be hydrated and mixed with the other ingredients, patties formed, fried, and eaten!

Of course seasoned with Moore than Spice blends!

Ingredients & preparation

Ingredients for the pattie

3 tbsp. ground flaxseed
3 tbsp. hot water
80 g sunflower mince (from a well varied grocery store)
150 ml hot water
3.5 g Bouillon
60 g oatmeal
40 g cashews
250 g chickpeas, canned, rinsed, and drained
150 g black beans (for the color), canned, rinsed, and drained
2 cloves of garlic, grated or finely chopped
1 large onion, grated or finely chopped
1.5 tbsp. tomato paste
1 heaped tbsp. Louisiana 18
  salt
Black Gold or just black pepper
  Oil (for frying)

Preparation

  1. Cover the flax seeds with 3 tablespoons of hot water and place aside.
  2. Put the sunflower mince in a bowl. Cover with hot broth (of 150 ml hot water and 3.5 g Bouillon), stir and place aside.
  3. Fill the oatmeal and cashews in a food processor and grind a little; it shouldn't be too fine.
  4. Add the chickpeas, beans, flaxseed, onion, garlic, tomato paste, Louisiana 18, salt, and pepper and pulse a few more times until a malleable dough forms. DO NOT puree! If it's too dry, add some pumpkin seed oil or olive oil.
  5. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a fork to mash the beans and finely chop the nuts with a knife.
  6. Now you can add everything to your sunflower mince and mix by hand. If necessary, add more seasoning, to taste.
  7. Shape the mixture into 4 - 6 burger patties.
  8. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan and fry the patties until golden brown (approx. 6 - 8 minutes).

This burger patty is vegan. You can fill the burger as you like: with tomatoes, avocados, fried zucchini or eggplant, pickles or cucumber, onion rings, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise ...

I am sure that this veggie burger will also convince some meat lovers!

Tips

  • If you are using an outdoor grill, I recommend using a grill mat.
  • Try the delicious Louisiana Soul instead of ketchup!
