A bread seasoning is a mixture of different spices traditionally used to add flavor to bread and baked goods. In my spice mixture you will find the typical ingredients caraway, coriander, fennel and anise.

My bread spice gives the bread a special aroma and enhances the taste. Bread spice is a popular element in German cuisine, often found in recipes for rye breads and whole wheat breads. It is also used in savory baked goods to create a deep, spicy note.

It is recommended to use the seasoning sparingly so as not to overwhelm the flavor of the bread.

Use

My recommendation for bread is approx. 2.5 g of bread seasoning for every 100 g of flour. Since there is no salt* in the spice mixture, you have to season the bread dough with salt.

Also use the bread spice for:

• butter
• salad dressing
• salad topping
• cheese

You can also use the bread spice as a tea, especially for digestive problems or stomach pain.
